Easy Marinade for Chicken
Chicken strips are one of the most popular ways to prepare chicken—whether grilled, pan-fried, or cooked in various dishes. The first step to creating an especially delicious dish is the marinade. A good marinade can make your chicken flavorful, juicy, and full of depth—and there are endless ways to do it.
In this recipe, we’ll learn how to make a simple, quick, and easy marinade that’s packed with flavor and will turn your chicken into a dish everyone will want more of.
Ingredients:
- Mustard
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- Sesame oil
(For one chicken breast. You can double the ingredients as needed and adjust to taste.)
Instructions:
Making the Marinade:
You can prepare the marinade in a separate bowl and then add the sliced chicken. If you’re in a rush, simply add all the ingredients directly into the bowl with the chicken and mix well until everything is evenly coated.
In a medium bowl, mix together the mustard, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Make sure everything is well combined into a uniform mixture.
Marinating the Chicken:
Add the sliced chicken strips to the marinade and ensure they are well coated. For a stronger flavor, let the chicken marinate for at least one hour. If you have time, marinate it overnight in the fridge.
Cooking Methods:
Pan-Frying:
I like to cook the strips in a hot skillet. Add a little oil, place the chicken strips (close together is fine), and let them cook for 3–4 minutes until nicely browned, then flip. You can flip more than once until the chicken is golden all around.
Oven-Baking:
If you prefer baking, preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F), place the chicken strips on a parchment-lined baking tray, and bake for about 20–25 minutes until fully cooked and golden.
Bonus Tips:
Right before taking the chicken off the heat, you can drizzle a bit of silan (date syrup) and mix for a sweet-savory finish.
How to Serve:
These flavorful chicken strips can upgrade any meal. Serve them with rice, couscous, a fresh vegetable salad, or even stuffed in a pita with hummus and tahini.
Storage:
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 2–3 days. Reheat in a microwave or skillet—adding a bit of oil or water helps keep the chicken juicy.
Enjoy!
