How to store dill in the fridge
Dill is a popular herb found in many kitchens around the world. It is especially common in soups, but its unique and dominant flavor shines in any dish it is a part of.
Dill is one of the most dominant-tasting herbs I know. Despite its delicate and fragile appearance, its flavor is strong and can easily overpower the tastes of various products, adding its unique taste. When you chop its thin leaves, it will reach every bite of the dish, adding both flavor and color. (Fragrant Tribe – Wikipedia).
Cleaning and washing dill
When washing dill, it is very important to remove the rubber band attached to the stems because dill stems are very delicate and can be easily damaged. These damages can accelerate the rotting process and shorten the shelf life of the plant.
When washing under the faucet, be sure to separate the stems and remove any dirt that may have accumulated between them. After washing, gently shake the dill and let it dry on a colander or other similar tool. For those who want to be meticulous, you can soak them in a bowl of cold water.
Packaging and storing dill
Before packaging the dill, once it’s dry, I gently shake it over the sink if necessary and then wrap it in paper towels. I make sure to roll the dill tightly so the paper can absorb any remaining moisture and maintain its freshness during storage. After wrapping, I place the dill in a plastic bag of appropriate size and store it on the vegetable shelf in the fridge. It can also be stored in a sealed container or box along with other herbs.
