How to Make Oven Garlic Antipasti

Oven Garlic Antipasti

Garlic antipasti, baked to perfection, is a delightful surprise that enhances appetizers or main dishes with authentic and rich flavors. It’s simple to prepare, quick to cook, and can be made in any home kitchen, elevating any meal with its enticing aroma.

Ingredients

  • Garlic bulbs — as many as you need
  • Cooking oil — as needed
  • Olive oil — for added flavor
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper — to taste

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Garlic Bulbs
Slice the garlic bulb across its middle so that each clove is halved but the bulb maintains its circular shape. Alternatively, cut off just the top to expose the cloves while keeping the bulb intact.
  2. Seasoning
Drizzle the garlic halves with a bit of olive oil. Optionally, sprinkle salt and pepper for added taste.
  3. Bake
Place the garlic on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10–15 minutes or until golden and tender.
To check if it’s done, gently insert a toothpick — it should slide in effortlessly. When ready, the garlic will pop easily out of its dry skin and have a soft, creamy texture.

Enhancements and Variations

  • Add herbs like thyme, rosemary, or oregano for extra aroma.
  • Serve with sour cream and dill for a refreshing touch.

Storage Tips

Though garlic antipasti is quick and easy to prepare, it’s so delicious that it’s rarely left over! If needed, store in the refrigerator or mash into a garlic spread for later use.
